For your photoshoot, consider bringing the following items to ensure a great session:

• Treats—lots of treats! They help keep your dog engaged and focused.

• Your dog's favorite toy(s), especially if they love toys. This can add a fun element to the photos.

• A collar, even if your dog is usually walked in a harness. Photos often look nicer without harnesses.

• Any special outfits or accessories you want your dog to wear.

• A brush or comb for any last-minute touch-ups.

• Water and a bowl to keep your dog hydrated.

• A towel or wipes for any quick clean-ups.

If you aren’t sure where you would like your photoshoot to take place, I have numerous suggestions for lovely settings. These range from places in the Cotswolds like the Cotswold Water Park to Shearwater Lake and Heavens Gate, as well as secure dog walking fields. We are blessed in Wiltshire (and the surrounding counties) with lots of lovely varied countryside to pick from.

If you have a walk you and your dog love, I can join you on your walk and pick places for shots as we go.

No, your dog doesn't need to be perfectly trained off-leash or have a strong wait or stay command for the photoshoot.

I have plenty of experience working with dogs of all training levels. We can use a long lead for safety, and I can edit it out in post-production.

My goal is to capture your dog's personality and essence, no matter their training level.

• Familiar Items: Bringing their favourite toys, treats, or a blanket can provide comfort.

• Body Language: I watch for body language to ensure your dog is comfortable, and I will be led by you as you know your dog the best.

• Gentle Approach: I’ll use a gentle, calm approach to interact with your dog and ensure they’re comfortable throughout the shoot.

• Breaks: We can take breaks as needed to ensure your dog doesn’t get overwhelmed.

• Short Walks: We can choose a location that requires minimal walking, such as a beautiful park or garden with easy access points.

• Rest Breaks: We will take frequent breaks to ensure your dog doesn't get too tired. There’s no rush, and we can go at their pace.

• Comfortable Spots: We'll find comfortable spots for your dog to sit or lie down while I capture their personality and unique essence.

• Portable Seating: You can bring a blanket or portable dog bed to provide a cosy spot for your dog during the shoot.

I have a passion for senior dogs. As the guardian of a collie who is a golden oldie, and having cared for Shadow until he was 16 and a half years old, I understand the special adaptations our senior canines may need.

Our senior citizens are the sweetest of souls, and it’s so important to have photos of their twilight years.

• Assistance: If possible, having an extra person to help manage the dogs can be very useful.

• Interaction: We’ll create fun and engaging moments to capture the unique bond between your dogs.

• Patience and Time: Just like with single dog sessions, we’ll take our time and ensure each dog is comfortable and having fun.

• Fee Structure: The photoshoot fee covers as many dogs as you have in one household.

• Group Photoshoots: Please do not turn up to your photoshoot with friends and their dogs. We can organize group photoshoots at a discount—please message me to arrange this.

There is a time of day called the "Golden Hour," which occurs shortly after sunrise and just before sunset. During this period, the light is unbeatable for portraits, offering soft, warm, and diffused light that creates beautiful, flattering tones. However, nothing is guaranteed with light.

• Golden Hour: The period before sunset or after sunrise is ideal for portraits.

• Action Photos: If you want action photos, we need good light - this doesn’t mean bright sunshine in the middle of the day, as it creates harsh light and shadows. A cloudy day produces much more pleasing images due to the diffused light, so don't be put off by a cloudy day; we can get some stunning images.

• Rainy Weather: Rain can also be effective for creating unique photos. See Rhea’s photoshoot with Colin and Reggie. However, I completely understand if a wet, soggy dog is not what you’re looking for in your photos. Should there be considerable rain during our photoshoot and we don’t get beautiful portraits, I will come and re-shoot a short session for free (as long as this is in a reasonable vicinity to Bradford on Avon).

The key is to work with the light we have and make the most of it to capture stunning images of your dog.

• Standard Session: A typical photoshoot lasts between 2 to 3 hours. This gives us plenty of time to capture a variety of poses and expressions without rushing.

• Mini Session: For a shorter session, you can opt for a mini photoshoot, which lasts around 30 to 45 minutes. This is a great option if your dog has a shorter attention span or if you only need a few key shots.

• Extended Session: If you have multiple dogs, want to include family members, or have specific requirements, an extended session lasting 3 to 4 hours might be more suitable.

During the session, we’ll take breaks as needed to ensure your dog stays happy and comfortable.

My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience while capturing beautiful photos of your furry friend.

Weather can be unpredictable, but don’t worry! Here’s what we can do if the weather doesn’t cooperate:

• Rescheduling: If the weather is really unsuitable for a photoshoot (heavy rain, strong winds, etc.), we can reschedule to another day. Your and your dog's comfort and safety are the top priorities.

• Light Rain: Sometimes, a bit of light rain can add a unique touch to the photos. We can still proceed if you’re comfortable, and I’ll bring waterproof gear to protect the equipment.

• Indoor Option: If you have a suitable indoor location, such as a spacious home or a covered area, we can adapt the photoshoot to an indoor setting.

• Heat Considerations: If it’s too hot, it’s not good for the dogs. High temperatures can cause dogs to overheat and become uncomfortable. We can either reschedule to a cooler time of day, such as early morning or late evening, or choose a shaded location to keep your dog cool and safe.

• Flexibility: I aim to be as flexible as possible and will work with you to find the best solution. We can discuss options and make a decision based on the weather forecast closer to the shoot date.

In case of bad weather or extreme heat, rest assured that we’ll find a way to make the most of it and still capture beautiful moments of your furry friend.

While you don’t need to do anything special. here are some of my top tips to get ready:

• Exercise: Take your dog for a short walk or play with them before the shoot to burn off excess energy. An exercised dog is usually more relaxed.

• Grooming: Give your dog a good grooming session. Brush their fur, clean their eyes, and make sure they’re looking their best. If needed, you can schedule a grooming appointment a day or two before the shoot.

• Training: Practice basic commands like sit, stay, and come if you have taught these to your dog. This can be helpful during the photoshoot to get the perfect shots, but don’t worry this isn’t essential.

• Treats and Toys: Bring your dog’s favourite treats and toys to keep them engaged and motivated.

The timeline for receiving your photos can vary depending on the complexity of the shoot and the number of photos taken. Generally, here’s what you can expect:

• Preview Gallery: Within a week of your photoshoot, you’ll receive a preview gallery with a selection of the best shots.

• Final Edits: The final edited photos are usually delivered within 2-3 weeks after you’ve selected your favorites from the preview gallery.

• Delivery Method: The photos will be delivered digitally via a downloadable online gallery. If you prefer physical prints or photo albums, these can be arranged for an additional fee and may take a bit longer to deliver.
